"Affiliated to the Shire Horse Society"
from humble beginnings at Beeston Cattle Market, the North West & Wales Shire Foal Society was formed in 1979, to protect and promote the Shire Horse.
A committee was brought together, with the first President being WH Griffith and the first Chairman was RAS Pleavin.
Several trophies were donated by the disbanded National Foal Society.
Brian Pennington with the backing of Wright/Manley together with a small dedicated group of enthusiasts, held the first Show and Sale at Crewe in the October.
The event grew and went from strength to strength, staying at Crewe until 1990, it then moved to its present home at Southview Equestrian Centre near Winsford, one of the largest Arenas in the country.
The annual sale of horses and harness is now renowned throughout the country and world wide.
